1918 – British women over the age of 30 with minimum property qualifications get the right to vote through the passage of the Representation of the People Act 1918.

1952 – Elizabeth II becomes the first queen regnant of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth Realms since Queen Victoria upon the death of her father, George VI.

1987 – Justice Mary Gaudron becomes the first woman appointed to the High Court of Australia.

1347 – Dorothea of Montau, Prussian hermit, visionary and saint (d. 1394)

1452 – Blessed Joan of Portugal, Princess and regent of the House of Aviz; she was heir apparent to the throne until the birth of her younger brother John. She has not been canonized, but is known in Portugal as Princess Saint Joan. (d. 1490)
